A Romance for Wedding Gowns

Ever since I was a little girl, I loved wedding dresses. I used to sneak into my mom’s closet to look at her wedding dress when she wasn’t home. She had no problem with showing it to me, but if she had known how many hours I spent practically drooling over it, she probably would have freaked out a bit. I had pretty childish tastes back then – unsurprising because I was a child. I loved wedding gowns because they looked so soft and fluffy. They were like cakes, and they made whoever wore them look halfway between a princess and a pastry. I could not get enough.

Back when I was buying discount wedding dresses at thrift stores and wearing them to the school with various punk rock modifications to shock my teachers, I never dreamed that one day I would be a wedding designer. You see, as much as I loved wedding dresses, I wasn’t particularly enamored of weddings. I was very independent, and I couldn’t imagine spending my entire life with one boy, raising kids, and living in a boring suburban corner of the world like my parents did. I wanted action and adventure. I wanted to be a mountain climber or a park ranger, or perhaps a professional photographer. One thing I didn’t want to be was a bride.

Nonetheless, I was still impressed with bridal fashion. I loved when I got to see outdoor weddings at the local park. We lived by a gorgeous state park complete with the rivers, lakes, and beautiful rolling hills. There was a small wedding chapel there, and they would frequently rent it out. My boyfriend at the time must have thought I was giving him messages! I made him sit there with me all afternoon, watching the wedding party. Perhaps he thought I had dreams of long-term romance, but such thoughts were furthest from my mind. I was interested in it purely from a fashion perspective.

Now that I am getting ready for my own wedding, I am struck by how different the experience is from that of helping other people get ready for there big day. Looking for wedding gown ideas. Although there are vintage designs, modern designs, classic designs, and many other variations, it doesn’t amount to all that much variety. There are only a few things to keep track of, and if you appreciate the clothes it is easy. Picking out one for yourself, however, is another matter. It is probably the hardest part is getting married.

Wedding Dress - The One Thing That Makes The Bride Shine

There is no doubt that there is a huge amount of excitement in the air any time a wedding is being planned. One of the most important of the many and varied decisions that have to be made is the wedding dress that will be worn by the bride, for the time when she will glide down the aisle toward her groom to begin the ceremony.

While the bride and groom are really the proper center of attention on the big day, it is natural and customary for the bride to be a bit more in the spotlight and the bridal dress that she chooses in many ways sets the tone for the whole day. At the same time, the wedding gown very much serves as the frame around the bride and should serve to beautify her and highlight her very best features.

Of course, the wedding dress should not distract from the bride and her own natural beauty and attributes. Sometimes, this can be a delicate balance that is challenging to achieve, but with some patience and a good bridal consultant it can be done easily enough.

There are many stories of brides who had so much difficulty choosing a wedding gown that they ended up being completely frustrated or reduced to tears. At times, it is just the sheer number of choices, trying to meet deadlines, and trying to stay within a budget that causes the difficulty. Other times, it can happen when a well-meaning friend or family member tries to impose their own idea of the perfect wedding dress on the bride.

This is a situation where a bridal consultant can be very helpful. Since they are a third party, and usually on staff at most wedding dress shops, they can offer an objective perspective and opinion about a wedding dress that will be perfect. They can also help the bride to have the courage to stand up for her preferences and decisions and can calm down situations that begin to spiral out of control.

Because there are so many choices in designs and styles from which a bride can choose to find the perfect bridal dress for her special day, it is best to set aside as much time as possible for shopping for the wedding gown and for the wedding gown accessories. First, there needs to be sufficient time to review the many options available. Second, time needs to be set aside for trying on sample gowns. Third, if the bridal dress is going to be a special order or custom tailored, then there must be time allowed for that as well.

When it comes to choosing the wedding dress, the bride should take into consideration more than just the style and overall look of the gown. It is also important to think about the setting of the wedding and about the bride’s comfort. Even though brides always want to look their best for their wedding, it is important to be comfortable as well, in order to enjoy the festivities.

Picking out the right wedding dress can prove to be a nightmare. The local bridal shops may have antiquated styles that do not fit your modern fashion sense or they may simply not have a size that you are looking for. Wedding dresses are the centerpieces of wedding ceremonies. It is the bride that is the focal point of the day and you need a wedding dress to be proud of and one that shows off your particular style.
